Parents information

Sports opportunities for visually impaired children in mainstream education are restricted, in some places minimal.

The Actionnaires clubs exist to provide opportunities for blind and partially sighted children of school age to participate in sports in a safe, structured and fun environment outside of school time.

Through the clubs, we aim to release the potential of children through recreational sport, to build their confidence and encourage them to get and keep fit.

In a supportive environment, the children are able to develop their social skills and can learn to believe in their own abilities.

Ultimately we encourage children to further their sporting abilities by progressing on into mainstream sports provisions with sighted children. The Sports Development Team works closely with Sports National Governing bodies to create opportunities for Actionnaires participants to do this.

Members are aged between 8 and 16, although we do allow under 8's to come as long as they are with a parent. Over 16's are also welcome and are encouraged to take on a leadership role.
