Payroll Giving is an HM Customs and Revenue scheme that enables employees to donate tax free through their pay to any charity in the UK
All about Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is a simple, efficient and flexible scheme, which allows you to donate to Action for Blind People by a direct deduction from your wage. All donations given in this way are tax effective so we receive your donation and the tax you would have paid on this amount.
If you are a higher rate taxpayer, Payroll Giving is the only way that a charity can automatically receive all your higher rate tax on your charitable donation.
Examples of what pledges will cost you in take-home pay
- A £5 pledge will only cost you £4 (at 20 per cent tax), £3 (at 40 per cent tax) or £2.50 (at 50% tax).
- A £20 pledge will only cost you £16 (at 20 per cent tax), £12 (at 40 per cent tax) or £10 (at 50% tax).
- A £50 pledge will only cost you £40 (at 20 per cent tax), £30 (at 40 per cent tax) or £25 (at 50% tax).
The amount you donate is entirely up to you. Find out how your money helps us support people with sight problems.
Your employer may match your donation
Many companies now match staff donations to charity. It is an excellent way for companies to demonstrate their commitment to the community and build good relations with employees.
Benefits to companies
Any matched donations that companies make will be allowed as a deduction against company profits for tax purposes.
